The study involves both quantitative and qualitative methods also include an implementation component. This posting is for a Nurse who will provide SRH and HIV prevention health services to females using HIV prevention methods.   Job Summary Working under the supervision of Sister In Charge, the Project Nurse will be mainly responsible for ensuring the delivery of adolescent and youth friendly primary care, HIV and SRH service to study clients presenting to the facility. Other responsibilities will include;   1. Providing HIV testing and counselling services to adolescents and young people. 2. Entering HTS data in HIV registers. 3. Providing PrEP services (Screening, Initiation and Counselling) 4. Screening, counselling and management of STIs. 5. Screening, counselling and providing contraception. 6. Treatment of minor ailments. 7. Providing psychosocial support to young people. 8. Referrals to other health service providers. 9. Maintaining clinical inventory and stock cards. 10. Preparing monthly work plan. 11. Compilation and submission of weekly reports 12. Registration and compliance to regulatory boards. 13. Attending and participating in stakeholders’ meetings and presenting progress reports. 14. Interaction with organizations and government departments. 15. Sensitization of local community leaders about study activities. 16. Any other duties as assigned   Qualifications and Experience: A Registered General Nurse with a Diploma/Degree in General Nursing or Primary Care Nurse with a Certificate in Nursing. Registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe and in possession of a valid practising certificate. Valid Certificate in Rapid HIV Testing and Counselling. A post-basic qualification is an added advantage. 5 years’ experience as a Registered General Nurse and 2 years’ experience in clinical management of HIV. Candidates with qualifications and experience in counselling services have an added advantage. Demonstrable ability to work with Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYWs). Knowledge of the National HIV prevention guidelines and EDLIZ. Pangea Zimbabwe Aids Trust (PZAT) is a non-profit organization registered by Zimbabwean law. The Wild4life Health Program

Community health services approach in Zimbabwe and globally is recognized as a key strategy to help in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) particularly SDG3 . In Zimbabwe, provision of primary health services is guided by the National Community Health strategy 2020-25 with a focus on rural health facilities and village health workers (VHWs) who act as the bridge between the formal health system and communities using the community health services model . In this context‚ the Wild4Life Health Program has been operating in 3 districts in the Matabeleland North province of Zimbabwe namely Binga, Hwange and Lupane. The overarching objective of the program is to address challenges and barriers to accessing primary health services in underserved, rural communities and help increase access and utilization of high quality and comprehensive primary health services in these rural communities. To fulfil the stated objectives, the program focuses on the following 5 key interventions:

 

1.To provide comprehensive clinical mentoring for village heath worker’s support 2.To strengthen health systems and outreach in rural areas 3.To improve data quality monitoring, data variance reporting and CQI 4.To strengthen district level leadership, coordination, and management. 5.To facilitate community mobilization and dialogue with local leadership over health access.

This posting is for a qualitative data collector who will conduct interviews with the range of study participants: people using HIV prevention methods, health facility staff offering HIV prevention options, community members in neighborhoods near study sites, and health officials responsible for HIV prevention.   Job Summary Working under the supervision of CATALYST Site Study Coordinator/Program Officer, the Research Assistant will be responsible for collecting qualitative and quantitative data for 3 years in a-multi-national research study (CATALYST). They will also be responsible for recruitment and consenting of eligible CATALYST Study participants, conducting face-to-face and remote interviews and record reviews, transcribing interviews, and supporting the data analysis processes to inform report writing, tracking study participants over time, and following all study procedures to ensure accurate data and ethical treatment of study participants. This position will be based at a study site for the duration of the data collection for the study.   Duration One year renewable upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding.   Key Duties & Responsibilities The incumbent will: Participate in study training; participate in the translation, testing and review of interview guides; work with the site-based study team and healthcare providers to identify and recruit study participants; schedule interviews with study participants; conduct and document informed consent processes; securely store all informed consent documents per study procedures. Conduct face-to-face and phone-based quantitative interviews with participants (people interested in HIV prevention and site staff), enter data on electronic devices; conduct in-person in-depth interviews, key-informant interviews, and focus group discussions with study participants; adapt to phone interviews if required due to external circumstances; tracking study participants over time; identify participants that have missed study appointments; telephone them to conduct follow-up interviews. Upon learning of any serious adverse event or social harm, complete required forms, enter them in electronic database, and immediately inform Supervisor. Obtain study forms from health care providers and enter them into electronic database; review health facility registers, and capture required information into an electronic system; provide and document participant reimbursement per study protocol; accurately complete and maintain all field logs to track study progress and other files, whether computerized or manual. Securely handle and store data collection forms per study procedures; work with the Data Manager and Site Study Coordinator to resolve data queries; consult and communicate in a timely manner any challenges encountered during data collection with the Site Study Coordinator. Transcribe recorded interviews into a standard Word template; support data analysis; organize data, create initial codes, respond to queries from qualitative analysis team. Flawlessly maintain study participant confidentiality; adhere to the study protocol and all study procedures and implement quality control process throughout the conduct of the study. Share written interview notes and full transcripts on time, as agreed with Study Coordinator. Participate in regular team debriefing meetings. Perform any other related duties.   Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience conducting quantitative and qualitative interviews (in-depth interviews and focus group discussions) for a research study.
  • Experience interviewing adolescent girls, young women, and/or trans populations is preferred.
  • Experience in taking notes during in-depth interviews and focus group discussions.
  • Experience with quantitative data collection using tablets.
  • Experience working with electronic data collection forms in ODK, RedCAP, KoboCollect, SurveyCTO or similar.
  • Nursing experience an added advantage
  • Must reside near a study site (Harare – Chitungwiza CiTi Med Hospital; Masvingo – Runyararo Clinic; Ngundu Rural Health Centre, Beitbridge Wellness Clinic; Bulawayo – Cowdray Park Clinic; Plumtree District Hospital)
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and {Ndebele for Bulawayo, Kalanga and/or Ndebele for Plumtree; Shona for Chitungwiza; and Venda for Beitbridge} required.

MOSAIC, a five-year (2021-2026) global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has a goal to help women prevent HIV by accelerating the introduction and scale-up of new and emerging biomedical prevention products.   • To provide a link between the facility QI teams and the CATALYST study
  • To promote a QM culture at all participating sites
  • To enhance shared learning between facilities on successful quality improvement projects
  Duties and responsibilities
Support QI teams in the implementation of the Quality Improvement Collaborative
  • Setting up Quality Management Program structures at facility level e.g., QI Committee and QI teams; holding regular QI meetings at least monthly; developing annual Quality Management Plans; and developing of work-plans for QI projects
  • Develop the improvement charter—the aim, objectives, and indicators—and orient new teams or new staff members in the use of the charter.
  • Support the staff to analyse gaps in performance, test and implement changes
  • Help the facilities and the district tackle challenges that arise during the improvement effort.
Conduct regular coaching visits/ support to QI teams
  • Conduct regular coaching visits and mentor the team to improve services through role playing, observation, and immediate feedback.
  • Supporting facility teams in performance measurement e.g., data abstraction, verification, validation, and entry into the performance measurement database
  • Asses the performance/functionality of the team
Maintain regular communication with the CATALYST Study management team and the project
  • Maintain regular communication on QI activities via meetings, email, or phone with the QI Advisor CATALYST study management team and the project officer.
Organize and facilitate learning sessions
  • Participating fully during the various peer learning platforms like the Regional Group meetings and review meetings
  • Help teams prepare for their results’ presentation at learning sessions.
  • Facilitate discussions during learning sessions.
Document and report on the QI effort
  • Supporting the documentation of key QI activities taking place at the facilities e.g., QI Committee meeting minutes, and QI Projects
  • After each coaching visit, complete a report and forward it to the team, the project officers, and the district and provincial managers.
  Other relevant skills
  • Ability to work independently, with possession of strong mentorship and coaching skills
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Quality Improvement
  • Knowledge of the country’s HIV program
  • Should possess problem-solving skills and be detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work in teams and manage time and projects
  • Basic computer knowledge/skills and experience with use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Willingness to travel
  Education and experience
  • Nursing degree or diploma, post-graduate training is an added advantage
  • Certification in quality improvement is an added advantage
  • Possess at least 5 years of experience working in the country’s public health sector, HIV programs and/or quality improvement/management system
