Imelda Mahaka

Executive Director

Imelda Mahaka is the Executive Director for Pangaea Zimbabwe. She provides strategic direction, overall oversight, coordination, and support for the implementation of Pangaea Zimbabwe programs. She has been involved in policy work in the areas of HIV treatment optimization and scale-up including access to diagnostic and monitoring and community engagement. Formerly with the UZ-CHS Research Programme and Zimbabwe AIDS Prevention Project, Imelda has extensive experience in HIV/AIDS, SRH behavioural research, using quantitative and qualitative methods, especially working with adolescents. Imelda is a certified Social Worker, project manager, and researcher; with a passion for working with and contributing to improved health outcomes for adolescents, women, and other priority population groups. She is a member of AfroCAB and CHAI-UNITAID Optimal ARV Project Community Advisory Board, working towards empowered communities.

Dr. Joseph Murungu

Senior Technical Advisor

A medical doctor with postgraduate training and experience in public health, Dr Joseph Murungu is the Senior Technical Advisor for Pangaea. He serves in the board as an ex officio member and the technical advisory board. He brings in vast experience in the design, implementation, management, coordination and monitoring of public health programmes towards responsive health systems. Prior to joining Pangaea, Joseph worked at different levels of the health delivery system in Zimbabwe including as the National HIV Care and Treatment Programme Coordinator, District Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent and House Medical Officer. He also brings experience from from the implementation of wide-scale improvement projects in several countries in the African region, implementation science and research. Joseph has a passion for strengthening health systems towards the provision of quality, patient-centred care.

Definate Nhamo

Senior Programs Manager

Ms Definate Nhamo is currently completing her PhD, holds an MSc in Strategic Management and a BA hons in Sociology. She has spent over two decade working on increasing access to Sexual Reproductive Health services (SRH) and facilitating HIV/AIDS care and treatment to female adolescents in Zimbabwe in both research and program delivery settings. She was the 2014 AVAC fellow for Zimbabwe and her work continued to focus on improving SRH access to young women including HIV prevention technologies. She is very passionate about improving SRH access as well as increasing new HIV prevention technologies’ (oral PrEP and vaginal rings) access to young women. She is involved in the Global Fund and PEPFAR processes in Zimbabwe. She is a member of the HPTN scientific committee and is passionate about scaling up proven interventions from research to roll out, works in policy advocacy and Monitoring and Evaluation.

Francis Mapupa

Finance and Admin Manager

Francis Mapupa is a Chartered Secretary, who provides oversight for all financial, budgetary, risk management and administrative issues at Pangaea. He has more than 15 years’ experience in Accounting, Auditing and Administration related fields. Francis worked for close to 9 years for UZCHS-CTRC and has experience working with various donors such as USAID, CDC, Bill and Melinda gates and NIH among others. Francis holds an Honors Degree in Accounting, he is a member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators of Zimbabwe, the Southern Africa Association of Accountants, the Institute of Bankers of Zimbabwe. He also holds a Diploma with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Latelang Ndlovu

Programs Director

A Nurse/Midwife and Development Practitioner who has served in different capacities within MOHCC and NGO sector. He is experienced in program design and coordination of integrated health care services related to HIV, TB, SRH and IMNCI. Currently, Latelang is serving as a Program Director for WILD4LFE program in Binga, Lupane and Hwange districts in Matabeleland North Province. Since joining the W4L program, he realized the program grew from supporting 5 clinics in Hwange district to 17 clinics by 2018 and now 45 clinics across 3 districts in the Province.  Prior to joining W4L, he worked as a Provincial HIV/STI Coordinator and Reproductive Health Officer for Mat North for 8years, joined EGPAF as a District Focal Person for PMTCT for two years covering Tsholotsho and Hwange districts before joining BEAT AIDS Project Zimbabwe as a Technical Officer for PMTCT and ART in Hwange district. During his service in HIV programming, we realized the accreditation of all the districts and clinics in Matabeleland North Province to be ART initiating sites and the scale up of ART which saw huge numbers of patients put into treatment. Latelang has a strong passion for training sustainable clinical mentoring approaches that bring about durable change to our beneficiaries. Designing cost effective interventions is key to our drive to rural health service delivery.

Barbra Ncube

Programs Quality Coordinator

 

Barbra Ncube is a Programs Quality Coordinator at PZ. She holds a Master of Science degree in Governance and Leadership and has over 10 years of experience coordinating, facilitating, and implementing development projects in diverse communities around Zimbabwe. Barbra provides Monitoring, Evaluation, Results, and Learning (MERL) support to COMPASS Africa; a North-South collaboration of civil society organizations working in the global North and in East and Southern Africa to strengthen the HIV response. Barbra is highly accomplished in community work, with specialist skills in Training management, Counselling, Prevention work, and Qualitative research. She has vast experience in community mobilization, life skills training, M&E, gender, and advocacy. Barbra has also worked with PZ as a research consultant, whose assignment entailed conducting qualitative interviews for purposes of assessing project implementation, identifying key themes, and developing qualitative codes for data analysis. She also coordinated and led a research team in collecting data from 15 health facilities in four Provinces; for Pangaea’s Landscaping of HIV Service Delivery in Zimbabwe research study. Presently, she is involved with Zimbabwe’s Community Led Monitoring program where she provides technical assistance and advocacy MERL and capacity strengthening of CBOs. Barbra brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in knowledge management including documentation. She also understands strategy and has played a big role in the vision planning for PZ.

Shamiso Nyakuwa

Programs Director

Shamiso Nyakuwa is a programme management and global health specialist with extensive experience managing interventions that deal with the overlap between health, research, and development. Her areas of expertise include programme design and management, capacity building, partner engagement and support, monitoring and evaluation, grants management and new business development. At Pangaea Zimbabwe, Shamiso leads the Key and Priority Populations activities under the ZIMPAAC consortium. Previously, she served as the Deputy Country Director at JSI for a global flagship maternal and child health integrated program; and for 6 years, she a was Program Manager leading a regional mental health capacity-building consortium, covering 4 sub-Saharan countries. Shamiso holds an MSc in Global Health and Development and a BSc Psychology degree. She is also a 2023 Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership fellow with Africa CDC under the African Union. Shamiso is passionate about the mental health, especially of women and adolescents.
