Since the year 2015, PZ contributed to the reduction of new HIV infections through expediting and sustaining access to antiretroviral-based HIV prevention strategies through the Optimizing Prevention Technology on Schedule (OPTIONS) and Preparing for Ring Opportunities through Market Introduction Support and Knowledge Exchange (PROMISE) projects. Building on the foundation laid through OPTIONS and PROMISE/CHOICE, PZ transitioned to the Maximizing Options to Advance Informed Choice for HIV Prevention (MOSAIC) project to accelerate the introduction and scale-up of new and emerging biomedical prevention products to help women prevent HIV infection.

Maximizing Options to Advance Informed Choice for HIV Prevention (MOSAIC) was a five-year (2021-2026) global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to help women prevent HIV by accelerating introduction and scale-up of new and emerging biomedical prevention products. Product introduction research was conducted through the Catalyzing access to new prevention products to stop HIV (CATALYST) study which primarily focuses on generating evidence to facilitate the introduction of new PrEP products (PrEP Ring and CAB-PrEP). The project leveraged on synergies with other projects that PZ was undertaking such as MATRIX, CASPR and ZIM-TTECH projects to ensure stakeholder involvement including end-users in the product pipeline from research and development to introduction and rollout.
